This February, Mattel’s (Booth #4735) Barbie is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the Bloomingdales’ 59th street flagship in New York City. The partnership includes a Barbie-themed store window, an in-store display of 120 classic Barbies and a 242-square-foot shop-in-shop featuring Barbie-branded apparel, accessories and dolls. “Bloomingdale’s is truly the perfect retail partner to celebrate with Barbie,” says Richard Dickson, general manager and senior vice president of Barbie.
“First, it is the ultimate New York retail destination and the ideal place for Barbie to bring her love for fashion to a trend-setting, fun shopper. Secondly, we have a great history together and it’s wonderful to come together again is such an exciting moment.”
Over the years, Bloomingdale’s has launched Barbie fashion-inspired doll collections, including those designed by Donna Karan and Versace.
On the heels of the Barbie Bloomingdale deal, the doll line will also participate in its first-ever runway show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City on February 14. Barbie’s official birthday is March 9.
