Disney Online recently bought Canadian-based Kaboose’s internet assets, which includes sites such as Kaboose.com, BabyZone.com, AmazingMoms.com, Funschool.com and Zeeks.com. Kaboose’s sites, purchased for approximately $18.4 million, will be integrated with Disney Online’s Web site lineup, which already includes flagship site Disney.com, DisneyFamily.com, FamilyFun.com and iParenting.com
“This acquisition strengthens our position as a top entertainment destination for kids and families and as a trusted online resource for parents,” says Paul Yanover, executive vice president and managing director of Disney Online. “These new web properties complement Disney Online’s category-leading kids and family sites, broadening our audience and infusing an array of new content into our sites — particularly in the baby and mom categories.”
Meanwhile, Disney also has announced Earth Day plans for its retail stores, which will include earth-friendly T-shirts for kids and adults, and totes, featuring a Disney Store Mother Earth design; the Plant a Billion Trees Campaign in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, where for every tree planted, an earth-friendly reusable tote bag will be produced, available at Disney stores; a plastic bottle recycling program, where three empty bottles can be exchanged for a free commemorative Earth Day reusable water bottle; displays of Earth Day murals created by children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
