Seven licensing deals have been signed by Paramount for the low-budget word-of-mouth film Paranormal Activity, which has now grossed more than $100 million at the box office since it opened in limited release at the end of September.
Licensees, most of which will distribute through specialty stores, include Aquarius for posters, postcards and playing cards (U.S. and Canada); Breygent Marketing for trading cards (U.S., early 2010); Changes for T-shirts (U.S.); and IDW for online comics available through iTunes App store for iPhone and iPod Touch users, who will have exclusive access to this digital comic, with a story line beginning after the film’s cliff-hanger ending. Remaining partners include Import Dragons for stationery items such as postcards and calendars (Canada); NTD for T-shirts and hoodies (U.S. and Canada); and Scorpio for a variety of posters (U.S.).
