On the heels of Toys “R” Us’ annual children’s fund gala, which raised nearly $4 million, the retailer has teamed up with Save the Children. Toys “R” Us plans to launch in-store and online fundraising, as well as an auction of celebrity-designed blankets. Donations collected in both Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores, as well as online, will go to purchase baby blankets for needy infants nationwide. The retailer, through its children’s fund has already donated $250,000 to the charity. The campaign will run from May 10 to July 11.
Toys “R” Us’ children’s fund gala took place on April 30 in New York City. The event, which helps raise money to keep kids safe, donated more than $60,000 to Robin Hood, a New York City organization that directs donations to programs that support and assist poor children in the five boroughs. Attendees included country singer Tim McGraw and comedian Martin Short.
