Specialty retailer, Wet Seal Inc. has announced the launch of a new in-store music program focused on driving sales of licensed merchandise within the music category. The launch begins with the highly anticipated release, Folie à Deux, by Island’s multi-platinum and award winning artist, Fall Out Boy. The program includes a bundle package where customers can purchase the new release and receive an exclusive tee by Pete Wentz under his label, Clandestine.
“The connection between fashion and music has always existed and is important to our customer. The program we have developed with Island brings so many key elements together, we felt this was a great way to launch an initiative we see playing a prominent role in 2009,” said Ed Thomas, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer.
“We are fortunate to have new, creative partners like Wet Seal to develop programs such as these. It helps to build momentum around CD releases and thus drive incremental sales in non-traditional retailers,” said Jeff Straughn, Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing for the Island Def Jam group.
The program will be marketed in Wet Seal stores, online at wetseal.com, on Falloutboyrock.com and other Decaydance artists’ sites starting today (December 10th, 2009) and ending December 24th, 2008.
