Pitch the Brands Contest
This “Pitch the Brands” Contest (the "Contest") is sponsored by InventHelp, whose principal place of business located at 217 Ninth Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 ("InventHelp"). The Contest is governed by these Official Rules, as well as by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and applicable United States federal law, without regard to any conflicts of laws principles. The Contest is void where prohibited, licensed, taxed or restricted by law. By entering the Contest, each applicant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and by the decisions of InventHelp with respect to the interpretation and application thereof, all of which are final and binding as regards all matters pertaining to the Contest.
HOW IT WORKS:
Interested applicants will complete an application via the Licensing Expo 2019 website, at www.licensingexpo.com/pitch-brands. Each applicant will be required to pay a nonrefundable $100 submission fee at the time of entry. Payment may be made by any major credit card or by debit card. Payment of the submission fee does not guarantee that the applicant will advance to the next round. Applicants may submit as many separate and distinct entries as they may choose, but each entry will be subject to a separate submission fee. More than one person may combine to submit a single entry as a group.
All submissions must be for a product that is both demonstrable in nature and the subject of an issued U.S. patent or a pending U.S. patent application. The patent registration number or patent application number (as applicable) must be provided to InventHelp during the application process. The applicant must have at least one working production item or working prototype that can be used in demonstrations. The deadline for submitting entries is APRIL 15, 2019.
All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts. Up to ten submissions will be selected to advance to the “Pitch” round.
The ten applicants whose submissions are selected to advance to the “Pitch” round will have an opportunity to pitch their invention to a panel of brand owners and a live audience at Licensing Expo 2019 on June 5, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Additional details will be provided to all applicants selected.
During the “Pitch” round, brand owners will provide feedback to applicants on their inventions. Brand owners will have an opportunity to negotiate with applicants, but there is no guarantee or promise that any applicant will obtain a “deal” as a result of the “Pitch the Brands” Contest.
One of the ten applicants in the “Pitch” round will be selected to receive InventHelp services valued at $18,000 (the “Prize”). The selection will be determined by the panel’s collective score based on a set of criteria on a scale from 1 to 5; 1 being the lowest, 5 being the highest. The set of criteria will be: (a) the uniqueness of the product, (b) the brandability of the product, (c) the execution of the pitch / presentation, and (d) such other criteria as InventHelp or the panel may determine to be appropriate. The decision of the panel will be final and nonappealable.
All applicants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Licensing Expo 2019, as well as for their food and lodging while in the Las Vegas area.
NOTIFICATION & ACCEPTANCE:
The applicant who wins the “Pitch” round will be notified both in person at Licensing Expo 2019 and by e-mail within 15 days after the conclusion of the Contest. The winner will be required to respond to the prize notification within the time specified in the notification and may be required to: (1) provide his or her full mailing address for the purpose of receiving the Prize, which address must be within the fifty United States (including the District of Columbia, but excluding Puerto Rico); (2) sign and return a release of liability, declaration of eligibility, and/or, where lawful, a publicity release permitting InventHelp, UBM LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“UBM”), and each of their respective affiliates to use his/her name, voice and likeness for advertising and promotion purposes (without further compensation), in InventHelp’s and UBM’s sole discretion; (3) verify his or her Social Security Number or other taxpayer identification number; and (4) take possession of the Prize at the time and by the method specified by InventHelp. If the originally selected winner does not respond within the required time period or is unwilling or unable to comply with the foregoing terms, then another applicant will be selected to receive the Prize.
The applicant who wins the “Pitch” round will receive $18,000 (Eighteen Thousand Dollars) in services provided by InventHelp and its affiliates. The Prize is not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. No substitution of prize by the winner is allowed. Reporting and payment of any federal, state, local, or other taxes, fees, customs, duties, or other amounts owed in connection with any prize are the sole responsibility of the winner.
The Contest is open to any natural person who is a legal resident of the fifty United States (including the District of Columbia, but excluding Puerto Rico), who is 18 years or older at the time of entry (19 in AL, DE or NE, 21 in MS). Normal internet access and usage charges imposed by the applicant’s online service provider may apply. In addition, any application that is incomplete, or that has been tampered with or altered in any way, is not eligible and is void. In the event of a dispute, a potential winner may be required to provide proof that he/she is the person identified in the application. It is the sole responsibility of each applicant to notify InventHelp in the event of a change in e-mail address or other contact information. By entering the Contest, each applicant is certifying that he/she meets the eligibility requirements as set forth in these Official Rules.
InventHelp reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any applicant that InventHelp determines: (1) has tampered with the application process or the operation of the Contest or the Website; (2) has acted in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with the intent to annoy or harass InventHelp or any other person or entity; (3) has not satisfied all of the requirements for entry in the Contest; or (4) to be otherwise ineligible under, or in violation of, these Official Rules. Any attempt by an applicant to commit any of the above-listed acts of misconduct may be a violation of civil or criminal law and both InventHelp and UBM reserve the right to seek damages from such applicant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
LIABILITY/TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Each applicant, on behalf of himself or herself and his or her successors, executors, administrators and representatives (collectively, the "Releasor") releases and holds harmless InventHelp, UBM, and each of their respective affiliates, the supplier of any prize, any other persons or entities involved in the Contest, each of its and their respective parents, subsidiaries and affiliates, and each of its and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any liability for any losses, damages or costs of any kind whatsoever ("Losses") arising out of or resulting from (1) his or her submission of an application to enter the Contest, (2) lost or delayed data transmission, and/or (3) any other error in the administration of the Contest, due to any cause, including, but not limited to, any technical malfunction, failure, interruption or defect of the Website or any network, equipment, software, or due to human error, or any combination of any of the foregoing.
By entering the Contest, each applicant represents and warrants that he or she has the right to grant any and all rights and licenses provided herein, free and clear of all claims and encumbrances, without violating the rights of any other person or entity.

WITHOUT LIMITING THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, NEITHER INVENTHELP, UBM NOR ANY OF THE RELEASED PARTIES SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE CONTEST, HOWSOEVER CAUSED, WHETHER ARISING IN STATUTE, TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH RELEASED PARTY WAS ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. ALL SUCH DAMAGES ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED AND EXCLUDED.
